Kindergarten and First Grade Open House

We had a wonderful turn out last night for our kindergarten and first grade open house. Families new to Windy Hill enjoyed putting faces with the names of teachers and staff they have been hearing about!

We shared information about:

• what it means to be a Title I school
• the million word campaign,
• reading expectations,
• our school website as well as teacher websites,
• important dates for the school year,
• PTA,
• Community Partners
• ways to get involved in your student's education

If you were unable to attend the handouts will be posted on my website.

Everyone enjoyed visiting classrooms and we look forward to having 2nd and 3rd grades' Open House next Thursday in Harris Hall at 6:00.

Tomorrow is the big day!

Dear Students,

The special day is almost here! We are ready for a superstar year!!

The best part of being a principal is seeing all of my children come through the doors on the first day of school :)

The staff at Windy Hill has worked all summer to make this day special ... I can't wait to see everyone bright and early in the morning!

Dear Windy Hill Families,

Thank you for a wonderful first year, I’ve enjoyed getting to know our students and their families. Last year we had a lot of fun with the Western theme and this year I think everyone will enjoy our Hollywood theme!

The spotlight for students this year will shine on the qualities that can make them successful. Our work will showcase four essential roles that every student will need in order to be a “star” in life! You will be hearing conversations throughout the year about:

A Star's Road to Success!

• Respect – respecting yourself and others
• Organization – having a plan to accomplish what you need to do
• Academics - appreciating the opportunities you have to learn and making the most of your education
• Determination – setting goals for yourself and working hard
  
  It is going to be an exciting year as we celebrate all of our “Stars” and their accomplishments at Windy Hill Elementary!
